Marketing triumph

These hotdogs look pretty good. Reasonable price, too ... $3.98.

But wait a minute, something's wrong. There are ... seven of them in the package?

What the hell? What stupid marketing prick, dressed in his pretentious business suit and wearing his smug fucking "trust me" smile, convinced the product department at Ballpark to put out a package of hotdogs with seven dogs in it?

Ballpark, your new product looks great. I would be delighted to try it out ... when you regain your sanity and show your marketing fuckwits the door. When the dogs are eight to a package, you have a customer ready to buy.

Heroes Great And Small

"ATHENS, Ga. –  A Georgia man who saved a dog from a hot Mustang has been arrested for smashing a window to free the animal.

Multiple news outlets report that Michael Hammons of Athens was charged with criminal trespassing after freeing a small Pomeranian mix in distress from a hot car outside a store. Witnesses say that while a group of shoppers waited for police to arrive to free the dog, the Army veteran smashed the window.

Deputies say the car's owner insisted Hammons be arrested. Deputies did not identify the woman. She was cited for leaving the dog in the hot car."

Fucking people. Leave your dog is a locked car in Georgia in the summertime? They should put that woman in a locked car in the sun for an hour or so with no way out, see how she likes it. And then understand that dogs don't sweat ... that means they have no way to cool off except panting.

Kudos to Michael Hammons for stepping forward. He should ask for a jury trial. One decent dog owner on the jury would be more than enough for a nullification acquittal.

Balancing the scales ... forever

"In a complaint filed with the U.S. Department of Education and the Justice Department on Friday, the coalition of more than 60 groups claims that the university unfairly holds Asian-American applicants to a higher standard. Asian-Americans have the lowest acceptance rates at Harvard University and other elite universities, the complaint alleges, despite having some of the highest test scores and overall academic achievement."

For some reason, I am reminded of the words of Chief Joseph: "Treat all men alike. Give them the same law. Give them an even chance to live and grow."

As a libertarian, I think Harvard should be able to use racist admissions practices if they want to do so. But it appalls me that there are still people out there who want to mandate those racist practices in law. And who will argue for those racist legal mandates from a self-claimed position of moral superiority.

Lines in the sand

From Bill O'Reilly: "Just because you can say it doesn't mean you should say it…It is stupid. It accomplishes nothing." This in the context of a contest to draw Mohammed.

Missing the point there, Mr. O'Reilly. It isn't about insulting anybody, nor is it about the intrinsic value of drawing some guy who died 1500 years ago. Its about defying the assholes who threaten our rights to free speech. When someone tells you he will cut off your head if you draw his fucking religious figure, then its time to break out the pen and paper.
